Medical doctors are now recommending meditation to their patients to help combat stress, the primary cause of disease and suffering today. For some 40+ years now, universities in, Europe, India and the U.S. have conducted hundreds of studies on the positive effects of meditation on human physiology and behavior. The research results point to meditation as producing benefits on many levels of life simultaneously – body, emotions, mental functioning, and relationships. Relaxation is the direct opposite of stress and if you can get yourself to relax for just a short time in the day, you are able to recall the feeling in your body in stressful times.
